About the Foundation

On November 26, 2016, Johnny Callan or “John” as his family referred to him, had been taken from this earth in a single car accident. He was on his way to a stock show to do two of the things he loved most, show goats and represent his local FFA chapter, but God had other plans for Johnny that morning and he never reached his earthly destination.

John was small in stature but larger than life as a person and the impact he was leaving on those around him has been realized even after his passing.   He planted seeds everywhere he traveled by directly impacting others with his charm, character, whit, graciousness, work ethic, humility and above all else, his Christ like actions. Little did anyone know, how those seeds would grow and take on even more life and growth through others due to this accident and the loss of such a special young man.

The purpose of this foundation is to carry on John’s legacy for “impacting others” and “planting seeds” through a Christian based foundation in his memory. The Johnny Callan Foundation is a 501c(3) organization and will focus on four major areas of service/giving back in order to make a difference for others:

  • Scholarships to graduating seniors of Jacksboro High School
  • Purchasing livestock for ag students who otherwise might not be able to participate due to lack of resources or funding
  • Gifting of items/needs to families during Christmas who are struggling financially or have fallen on hard times
  • Financial assistance to local/area families who are unable to meet regular financial obligations to function on a daily basis

These are all areas that John was extremely passionate about, or had experienced and align with the personal mission statement that he wrote prior to his death;

“My purpose is to engage, encourage, and support those who are often left out, ignored, and neglected, so that everyone receives an equal opportunity to discover and utilize their potential.”- Johnny Callan
